A marine engineer should have a sound technical knowledge of
naval construction, and mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering
systems. The work entails the following key responsible areas:
Shipbuilding, boat-building and repair which
includes working on the design, development, construction and maintenance of
ships, boats and machinery

- Manufacturing, maintaining or repairing a range of craft from canal barges to super yachts.
- Designing, building and operating offshore platforms, rigs, pipelines and equipment.
- Surveying the ships and offshore installations, looking at their seaworthiness, safety and maintenance needs.
- Making sure engines, instruments and systems work safely and efficiently.
The working hours are flexible and on rotating shifts. The
job may need you to stay away from home and family for months together. But the
passion of the craft and the love of the sea keep the spirit high.
To be able to be eligible for the post of a Marine Engineer, one needs to have a
